Hi everyone!

One of the best things about being in this community is the opportunity to network and meet awesome Clio customers and legal professionals like yourself. To kick this off, I’d like to introduce a quick exercise to get to know each other better.

It’s called “5 Things About Me! 5 Things about You!”

5 Things About Me!

  1. I am passionate about creating spaces that allow people to connect.
  2. Legal runs in the family. My uncle, grandpa and great-grandfather were all lawyers (including one Supreme Court Judge here in Canada).
  3. I’m not a coffee drinker, tea all the way!
  4. I am from Vancouver, Canada but have also lived in Montreal, Hong Kong and now Victoria, BC. Island life! 🏝️
  5. This winter I made a weekly practice of cold water swims in the ocean. For all my American friends, the average temperature is around 46.00 F in the winter. 🥶

Okay, now it’s your turn - I want to hear 5 things about you!

5 Things About Me!

  1. I am new to the product marketing team but have been with Clio for 3 years (as of today!).
  2. I recently purchased a house in Surrey, BC (a suburb of Vancouver). If you know anything about the housing market out here, you understand that this is a BIG deal.
  3. I am an only child.
  4. I’ve known my closest friends since kindergarten/1st grade. We still talk almost every day. Aren’t Whatsapp group chats a blessing and a curse?
  5. I’m a huge NBA and NHL fan. I wish Vancouver wasn’t known for rioting when we’ve reached the Stanley Cup finals but lost

Humm, I have been a (devoted) Clio user since 2013 when a former staffer wisely turned me on to it; if I can master billing and trust refreshers I will be golden.

  1. I am a fox hunter (chaser, really, here in Virginia), and, yes, I have a scarlet coat (but I prefer wearing my black one).  My hunt horse is a thoroughbred.
  2. One of my horses is the son of the Kentucky Derby winner in 2007 and he is one of the best horses I have ever ridden but he does like to administer pop quizzes to me every so often.
  3. I live on a farm, in a house that was built in 1727.
  4. I read everything I put my hands on.
  5. I’m binge watching Downton Abbey at the moment.

Hi all! I’m looking forward to getting to know those of you I don’t already know and to helping each other out!

5 Things About Me!

  1. Like Mark Palmer, I am also from Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, though I left after law school to work in Knoxville, Chicago, and Atlanta for a while. I’m happy to be back because it is a great place with a wonderful legal community.
  2. I was raised by a mediator/arbitrator - my dad, Peter Feuille - so grew up with a preference for ADR and taking a collaborative rather than oppositional approach to conflitcs.
  3. I have a solo practice (with a client intake specialist :girl_tone2: and purralegal :smiley_cat: to help out) and will likely expand that this year, which both excites and scares me.
  4. I️ can only drink decaf anything these days, which makes me sad because the flavors are limited compared to the real stuff.
  5. I am a huge Rolling Stones fan , and my dad and I ironically got into trouble with the security guards at a show on the No Security show! (everyone in front of us was standing on their chairs too…)

Hey folks - happy Monday to all. Looking forward to seeing what this Community becomes.

5 Things About Me!

  1. I’m the first lawyer (and only one so far) in my family, and it wasn’t part of my plan as a kid. I was a math and science kid and majored in electrical engineering in undergrad.
  2. When I got to law school, I planned on doing patent law (what with the engineering background and all), but I fell in love with the courtroom via mock trial. Now I’m a medical malpractice lawyer (first for nearly a decade on the defense, then the last three-plus years as a plaintiff’s attorney), and it’s the perfect blend of medicine, problem solving, trial work, and helping people to keep me interested and engaged every single day.
  3. Food likes: Mediterranean, Mexican, and Thai dishes.
  4. Food dislikes: avocados (weird, I know, given my love of Mexican food), blue cheese, coffee.
  5. W️hen I was growing up, we moved a ton. I lived in seven different houses in four different states and went to seven different schools from elementary to high school.

Hi all,

  1. I’m a former disciplinary prosecutor but most people don’t hold that against me.
  2. I now represent and consult with lawyers about all kinds of legal ethics and professionalism issues, and I really like talking with lawyers about the nuts and bolts of day-to-day practice.
  3. I majored in English and Classical Greek, the latter of which hasn’t come up in my practice although it kind of did in law school - my ethics class had a healthy dose of Ethics, as in Nicomachean.
  4. Avid fan of as many varieties of music as I can find, sometimes the lesser-known, the more avid -- not because I’m a snob (I hope) but because it means I’ve found more to learn about.
  5. Dad of three awesome teenagers.

  2. I have been practicing 10+ years, and at the end of 2019 I went out on my own as a solo doing family law litigation in the greater Vancouver, BC area. This month I hired an articling student, my first employee :fireworks: ;
  3. Like a lot of other people on the ‘Wet Coast’, I’m originally from the geographic centre of North America: Winnipeg, Manitoba;

  5. and… I’m overthinking this.

Hi Everyone!

Solo immigration lawyer in New Hampshire, there are no immigration paralegals within 50 miles so I do most myself but have a remote paralegal who knows more about Clio than I do. I just signed up with Clio to help manage my practice, keep track of tasks, and link up to Docketwise which is my forms program. So I will welcome suggestions from users who use Clio + DW. Thanks

Hello!  I’m Beth in Rockford, IL.

  1. I am not a lawyer, I am a marketing person who married a lawyer and is now trying to figure out how to run this place so he doesn’t have to.
  2. Our shop is primarily Family Law and I spend a LOT of time trying to simplify every single process because our folks bring us enough drama that we don’t need drama with forms and technology.
  3. I usually have a dirt track sprint car race running in a different tab while I’m working.
  4.  Huge Jason Isbell fan.
  5.  Still living off the high of winning my 3rd grade spelling bee.

Hello everyone.

I’m Joshua Lenon, the Lawyer in Residence at Clio.

In my role at Clio, I help translate the needs of lawyers to technologists and vice versa.

Here are my five things:

  1. I am passionate about sand volleyball but never get to play. As a not very sporty-looking guy, players are always surprised by my explosive serve that drops just over the net into their faces.
  2. I grew up living all over the U.S. Midwest in small towns. I carry a lot of that past with me in my sense of genteel manners and incredulousness at the prices for everything in the big cities.
  3. I like to cook big production meals like smoking BBQ ribs or making turducken. Many members of Team Clio have gotten to taste some of my #PeasantKing cooking.
  4. I studied International and Comparative Law in law school. I actually use that everyday in my role at Clio! I’ve no idea how I managed to get so lucky.
  5. I’ve estimated that I’ve spoken to over 100,000 lawyers via webinars, conferences, and panels.

  3. I’m a cyclist, politician, father, husband, lawyer, entrepreneur, etc.
